Closing gala of the European Wine City 2025 and RECEVIN elections

On January 28th, the Closing Gala of the European Wine City 2025 will take place in Cariñena. This Spanish city, located in the Aragon region, was the European Wine City in 2025, succeeding Alto Piemonte and Gran Monferrato (Italy).

The distinction of European Wine City recognized the long winemaking history and the tradition of wine tourism in this Spanish territory, which hosted wine-related activities throughout 2025.

The title of European Wine City will pass to the Baixo Alentejo, whose region will defend this award during 2026. Throughout the year, numerous actions and initiatives are planned to promote the wines of this region, combined with gastronomy, culture, and the territory.

The election of the European Wine City is an initiative promoted by the European Network of Wine Cities (RECEVIN), in partnership with associations that bring together wine municipalities in the countries where RECEVIN is represented, namely Portugal, Spain, Italy and, since last year, France.

On the occasion of the closing gala of the European Wine City in Cariñena, the RECEVIN Board of Directors will meet on January 29th at 10:00 AM to elect the new president of the network.

The RECEVIN General Assembly will be attended by the presidents of the national associations, as well as the other members of the network.

The following will be present:

Spain: President of ACEVIN, Rosa Melchor; as well as Ángel Soler and Iolanda Duque from the Municipality of Vila Franca del Penedês;

Italy: President of Città del Vino, Ângelo Radica; as well as RECEVIN Members Floriano Zambon, Andra Marruci and Marco Razzano;
