Vignobles du Sud-Ouest has been named European Wine City 2027, following the decision announced today at the European Parliament, after the meeting of the Board of Directors of RECEVIN – European Network of Wine Cities.
The French candidature brings together 40 municipalities, united around a common project aimed at promoting the region’s wine heritage, territorial identity and wine culture.
The official programme will begin in February 2027, marking the start of a year dedicated to promoting the region’s wine territories, their diversity, producers, gastronomy and the cultural heritage associated with vineyards and wine.
The official presentation of European Wine City 2027 is scheduled for 26 September at the French National Assembly in Paris, marking an important moment in the public launch of the new European initiative.
Bringing together 40 municipalities, the Vignobles du Sud-Ouest candidature represents a broad territorial and collective initiative, highlighting the richness and diversity of one of France’s major wine-growing regions.
The European Wine City distinction, promoted by RECEVIN, aims to strengthen cooperation between European wine territories and highlight wine as an element of identity, heritage, culture, economic activity and sustainable development.
Throughout 2027, Vignobles du Sud-Ouest will have the opportunity to showcase the diversity of its territories, wines and traditions on a European scale, through a programme of initiatives involving the 40 municipalities that make up the candidature.
