Multiusos de Lamego will be the stage for the Grand Opening Gala of Douro – European Wine City 2023, on February 4th, at 21:00.
The gala marks the start of a vast and diversified program of initiatives that will take place in the region throughout the year, covering the municipalities that embraced the candidacy “All Around Wine, All Around Douro”, which was elected the winner by RECEVIN on the 15th of June last year, in Brussels.
CIM Douro sees this distinction as “one of the greatest collective challenges that the Douro has taken on throughout its history, materializing the desire and pulse of an entire region”.
For the secretary general of RECEVIN, José Arruda, “this award consolidates what is already recognized worldwide and is already a reference for the wine world in its most diverse dimensions: the UNESCO World Heritage Douro is a unique territory in the world, that’s why it’s so important to celebrate and promote it”.
On the day before the Gala, February 3rd, CIM Douro will deliver plaques to the mayors of the municipalities that embraced the candidacy of Douro – European Wine City 2023, at the Centro de Alto Rendimento do Pocinho, in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, during the European Convention on Winegrowing Territories.
