Beja (Portugal) will host the Opening Gala of the European Wine City 2026 on February 7th at 9:00 PM at the Cine-Teatro Pax Julia.
Thirteen municipalities in the Baixo Alentejo region will be European Wine City throughout this year: Aljustrel, Almodôvar, Alvito, Barrancos, Beja, Castro Verde, Cuba, Ferreira do Alentejo, Mértola, Moura, Ourique, Serpa, and Vidigueira.
Last year, the title of European Wine City was held by the Spanish city of Cariñena, in the Aragon region. In 2024, the European Wine City was a group of Italian municipalities from the Piedmont and Gran Monferrato regions.
The election of the European Wine City is an initiative promoted by the European Network of Wine Cities (RECEVIN), in partnership with associations that bring together wine municipalities in the countries where RECEVIN is represented.
