Toulouse, European Wine City Dionísio 2023, received representatives from RECEVIN – European Network of Wine Cities, Iter Vitis, AREV, Farm Europe and Coopératives Viticoles Françaises between the 26th and 28th of this month for work meetings and discussion of the main challenges that the wine sector faces.
On the 26th, the RECEVIN assembly took place and the transfer of the city of Toulouse – European City Dionísio 2023 to Mostar, a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will be the European City Dionísio 2024. The opening session of the European City Dionísio 2024 will take place in March 2024.
RECEVIN’s Board of Directors approved the Closing Ceremony of the European Wine City 2023 – Douro on January 13th, in Sernancelhe.
A group of Italian cities in Alto Piemonte – Gran Monferrato, in Italy, will be European Wine City 2024 and the opening ceremony will take place on the 24th and 25th of February.
RECEVIN intends to schedule a working meeting with AREV – Assembly of European Wine Regions to plan joint actions and the composition of a European working group has begun to be defined that will serve as a bridge and means of influencing European actions and projects that affect aspects related to the wine sector, thus serving as support to other organizations and European delegations and representatives from each country.
In 2025 the European Wine City will be Spanish and in 2026 it will be a Portuguese city that holds this title.
On the 27th, “European Wine Day — Wine the Soul of Europe” was celebrated in Toulouse with a conference where current topics linked to wine and territories were addressed. On the same day, the Iter Vitis Award 2023 was awarded.
